Even in peaceful times humans have sought shelter and safety from harms of any nature so we're bringing forth for analysis and interpretation an issue that is always of utmost concern: the security and protection of ourselves, our loved ones and of our assets.
The need for protection invariably arises from our interaction with other people or the environment and this is exactly what we're hoping to see: how people act, react, co-operate to protect and keep safe themselves or their values. Homeland and physical security come first to mind so border and customs officers checking luggage or assault victims protecting themselves with tear gas spray may be an option. But since we're not dealing with so much physical violence anymore, you can think broadly about what we're actually after protecting these days: homes, investments, crops, cars, jobs, health. Threats and dangers come from humans and the environment alike so take your pick. Police force catching burglars in the act, bodyguards securing the safety of an important person, a bystander stopping a pickpocket, a driver putting on safety belt, a contractor waterproofing your house, security guards showing you how to set house alarm, a social worker putting abuse victims in a shelter, a workplace safety course, you installing a smoke detector system, people installing an earthquake warning systems or building water storage dams for droughts are just a few instances we're interested in. Anti-theft software for online commercial transactions may also do BUT remember that simple, static, isolated items will not secure acceptance, on the contrary.
Most successful security and protection images will secure the winners some financial security: $300 (first place), $200 and $100 (runner ups). The winners will also receive Dreamstime branded t-shirts that save the day on any occasion.

It would seem almost impossible to have a model release for example police force catching criminals. I do not think they would be in the mood or have time to sign a model release. Just a thought, could it be changed to include editorial? |

Probably not. My pics for assignments were refused a couple of times, and they always did it like this "Although this is a good stock photo..." |

You can submit assignment rejected images in the normal RF section but they will reviewed separately. |

I have a question: I submitted an image for assignment and I chose Sell the Rights option. The photography was approved and now is the property of Dreamstime. If the photography wins one of the prizes, the prize will belong to me or to Dreamstime?

If you sold the rights for the image you no longer hold the rights for it so, if the image wins the assignment the prize would not be yours. |
